Byron Lars began designing under his own label two years after graduating from FIT in 1991. After only his second season in business, Women’s Wear Daily hailed him “Rookie of the Year”, and he was immediately snapped up by prestigeous retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales. With a burning desire to reach a broader audience, Byron chose to redirect his energy to a more reachable pricepoint in the designer strata, so he established Byron Lars Beauty Mark in 2003 with that aim in mind, working in a mix of higher and lower priced fabrics while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship. The thing that’s most special about Byron is the mix of his keen design sense and astute technical insight that results in clothes that women can’t get enough of, once they’ve experienced them firsthand. Very few male designers are as conserned with the actual woman’s experience in their clothes as Byron is, with beauty, comfort and functionality being always at the forefront of his process.
