As the four days of Ontimeshow Spring/Summer 2019 drew to a close, the total count of industry attendees came to 12,085. Across Ontimeshow’s three major venues (A, B1, and D) located on the West Bund of Shanghai, there were 318 brands in total; 171 of which were Chinese brands, meaning the remaining 46% were overseas brands.

Ontimeshow is continually improving. In terms of the feedback that we received, whether from our exhibitors or our attendees, the most frequently mentioned comment was that we had upgraded. This time, we upgraded everything, from the building, the design and presentation of the exhibition hall, the selection of brands, the services, and the supporting facilities of the exhibition.

We have always emphasized that Ontimeshow is not a traditional trade show focused purely on being a site for business transactions. Brands need the exhibition space to show their brand concept and ideas beyond just the products. On the other side, professional attendees also need these spaces to be inspired and deepen their interactions.

In addition to the aesthetic quality of the space, Ontimeshow is also meticulous in its focus on data. Following the show, Ontimeshow gathered data on things like brand categories and composition of its attendees to gain insights into the growth and evolution of the show. Among them, the most noticeable statistics were that compared with last season, the number of industry attendees from each region of the country doubled, and that the number of registered buyers reached 3847 this season.

The theme of this season's Ontimeshow was #Influencer, and accordingly, we held a Conference for Bloggers in Venue B2.

Before this season’s show, we noted how the market is undergoing massive changes in this age of influencers. Among the most widely-discussed topics of late have been: the rise of the designer Virgil Abloh, who was named among the Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2018; the expensive materials and customized tailoring that were once the focus of luxury brands have given way to different, more striking patterns and shapes; the products that have always been at the core of the fashion business are being swayed by much more fickle consumer preferences.

In fact, this line of thinking is a continuation of last season's thematic question: Why do we need design now more than at any other time in the past?

And what can be considered design? What kind of design do we need in this era? Is it restricted by the desire and need to increase sales volume? Or is it influenced by the tastes of digital influencers?

In fact, every exhibitor and every professional attendee who comes to Ontimeshow is an influencer. For example, the completion of each order has an influence on the following season’s collection. This influence came before online product recommendations and influencers came about. All trends eventually level out. Good design is the only thing that remains constant.

We also look forward to witnessing the birth of excellent design in the 10th season of Ontimeshow at the end of March next year.
